Pre-Post Covid (prophylaxis and management) with Ayurveda patient shows good status

A lady aged 52yrs with fever and throat patient visited 7th Oct’20

She an old patient of mine earlier 1year back treated for around 5-6 months for raised pancreatic enzyme and digestive issues. Her physique is lean & thin and having Vata Pradhan Prakriti, with good Satwa.

From distance at clinic (following covid rules) she was consulted for cold-feverish complain and prescribed routine course for seasonal cold and asked to have follow up over phone next day and get her routine haemogram blood test, CRP test done first if fever and complain persists. She next day reported me over phone that her husband a businessman and known COPD case under Allopathy doctor treatment in his routine checkup had tested positive and got admitted in private hospital under the Allopathy family doctor. She was counseled over phone and also asked to get her tested, and if any complains, update or get Hospital admitted accordingly.  She got test on 9th October 2020 and the next day report showed positive for Covid -19. Blood report and CRP count with respect to her then presenting complains, seemed full control. Her vital status and condition access as taken over phone was improving and not any serious, and so she was treated at home with respect to the official guidelines to attend in Emergency nearby Covid-19 Hospital as needed. She continued improving with Ayurveda medicines and was reluctant to have any other medicines as she had faith and herself felt improving with given medicines. As medical assurance and assessment with treatment given got her all-other requisite test (D-Dimer, LDH, Ferritin, etc. with routine CBC repeat) done on 12/10/2020. All the followed reports and physical condition were in control and much improved with the only Ayurveda treatment given, proper diet, Yoga and self-isolation/quarantine stay. She was advised over phone for CT scan chest to finally rule out anything and plan the next course. She on 16/10/2020 herself got re-test done for Covid and it resulted negative for Covid-19 ; and as earlier advised on 19/10/202 her CT scan report showed normal. She was thereafter treated as post-Covid-19 recovered case with no complication. She is happy and had permitted to share all the reports for the documentation. Her electronic media consent was taken.

During the period she was prescribed following medicines.

VALIDATION OF SIDDHA MEDICINE AND VARMAM THERAPY IN CEREBRAL PALSY CHILD — SINGLE CASE STUDY

Cerebral Palsy (Sirakamba vatham) is a non -progressive disorder of posture and movement associated with abnormality of speech, intellect resulting from a defect or lesion of the developing brain. It is a major neurological cause for the crippling of limbs among children with an incidence of 7/1000 in India which leads to a permanent parental dependency of the child for their day-day activities. As the children are growing up, they become a burden not only to the parents but also to their entire family and society. Medical management of these children with oral drugs may be of little importance instead they really require physical stability of limbs too. This can be achieved by various massage techniques like varmam therapy technique-The stimulation of vital points of central nerves system, which are unique in Siddha system of medicine. Hence a holistic therapeutic approach of the spastic child is the need of the hour.

Cerebral palsy is considered a neurological disorder caused by a non -progressive brain injury or malformation that occurs while the child's brain is under development. It is mainly classified in to spastic, flaccid, extra pyramidal and with or without mental retardation. Signs and symptoms may vary patient to patient depending on etiology and pathology. Depending on the patients history, it could be purely motor, main include delayed milestone and no sensory loss.

Siddha medicine dealing with disease and called as Sirakamba vatham. In Cerebral palsy cases, regeneration and development of nerve cell is affected. Hence cp comes under vatha disease in siddha medicine. Varmam is a siddha science that aims to fulfill the cultural spiritual and medical needs of humanity. vatham, pitham, kabam are the three life energy circulating in human body.

TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF OTTRADAM (FOMENTATION) ON AZHAL KEEL VAAYU (OSTEO ARTHRITIS)

Background: Siddha system of medicine is the most primitive medical system. This system has a vast range of external therapies for health management. Most of these therapies aim in maintaining a healthy equilibrium of the vital humors (Vali, Azhal, Iyam). There are 32 types of pura maruthuvam in siddha system. Ottradam is one among them. It is a warm application to a part of the body. Azhal keel vayu is one type of Vatha disease, which is characterized by pain, swelling and restricted movements in the knee joints. The signs and symptoms of osteo arthritis(OA) can be correlated with Azhal keel vayu.

Objective: The aim of this study to evaluate the effectiveness of ottradam therapy on Azhal keel vayu.

Material and Methods: 10 patients withsymptoms of OA were admitted in In Patient Department RVS Siddha Medical college and Hospital. Notchi leaves (Vitex negundo) was used for ottradam procedure. Ottradam was given in morning, for 7-15 days and the patients were monitored clinically.

EFFICACY OF SIDDHA MEDICINE AND VARMAM THERAPY IN PAKKA VATHAM (HEMIPLEGIA) - A SINGLE CASE STUDY

Siddha system of medicine is the most primitive medical system. This system has a vast range of external therapies for health management. Varmam one of the branches of siddha system helps human society in curing the disease. Varmam means vital life force in the body. In Yugi vaithiya chintamani, Yugi munivar classified the vatham disease as 80 types and “Pakka vatham” is one among them. In Yugi as per the text, the signs and symptoms of pakkavaatham may be correlated with Hemiplegia in modern science. Several converging lines of contemporary evidence suggest that weakness presents a more serious compromise to movement function in post stroke Hemiplegia than spasticity. This review examines the clinical and functional phenomena of weakness in post stroke Hemiplegia, currently available evidence identifying physiologic substrates contributing to weakness, and reports of early investigations involving high-resistance training targeted at improving strength and the transfer of strength to improvements in functional capacity.

Acupressure :Given pressure point over P6 for 15 to 20 seconds daily.

Patient feedback of post treatment:

After 14 days of naturopathy management he felts better and his indigestion complaint got reduced slowly and ulcer complaint was also slowly subsides.

The patient returned to the center 1 week later and happily reported that his acute pain went away within the first 24 hours. After 3 days of the protocol, all of his symptoms had completely resolved.

Due to the timing of his pain subsiding, it appears that the freshly juiced cabbage was effective in healing his suspected ulcer.

Treatment aims to improve general well-being and promote lifestyle behaviours that reduce the expression of the disorder.
